Frequently Asked Questions
How does KyberGate's game detection work?
KyberGate uses an 8-layer game detection engine that analyzes page behavior in real-time — including canvas fingerprinting, WebGL detection, game engine libraries, keyboard input patterns, and content analysis. This catches games hosted on Google Sites, Replit, and other platforms that URL blocklists miss.
Does KyberGate filter iPad web traffic?
Yes. KyberGate filters iPads through a PAC proxy deployed via MDM. Unlike on-device apps that can be bypassed, our proxy-based architecture inspects all HTTPS traffic including Safari, Chrome, and in-app browsers.
What is HTTPS inspection?
HTTPS inspection (also called SSL inspection or MITM) decrypts and inspects encrypted web traffic in real-time. This allows KyberGate to see the actual content of websites — not just domain names — enabling accurate content classification and blocking even on encrypted sites.
Can KyberGate block VPNs and proxy bypass tools?
Yes. KyberGate detects and blocks 60+ consumer VPN services, proxy extensions, DNS tunneling tools, and browser-based bypass methods. Because our filtering happens at the proxy level, students cannot bypass it by installing VPN apps.
What content categories does KyberFilter block?
KyberFilter classifies websites into 50+ categories including adult content, violence, drugs, gambling, social media, gaming, streaming, AI tools, VPNs, and more. Admins can allow or block any category per policy with grade-level templates for Elementary, Middle, and High School.
Does KyberFilter work off-campus?
Yes. With KyberGate Pro, devices are protected on and off campus. The proxy configuration persists through MDM, so take-home iPads and Chromebooks maintain full filtering whether on school Wi-Fi, home networks, or cellular connections.
